I've got my CMOS clock set to GMT and set my timezone to be Europe/London. How do I tell it that we're on summer time here? My clock is an hour behind! This is SuSE-7.1.
Which clock do you mean? The one in your BIOS? It is set to GMT which has no summer or winter time. The one your system (Linux) uses? This also keeps the time in GMT. The one on your X-display? The timezone is used when you want to display the time, i.e. when you do a 'ls -l' to tell the time/date when the file was last changed, or the clock on your X-display. These should display the correct time and automagical change to the correct setting when summer time or winter time is set if you set the correct timezone. Regards, Cees.
