Can't install Sylpheed email client

I've just installed 7.1 and can't get the Sylpheed installation process past the './configure' stage. It complains that it cannot find glib-config. Well, according the the SuSe package manager, that file is not a part of the glib package. Could someone help a relatively new Linux user past this hurdle? Benson
