Is there a chance you guys are confusing the install-packages section of yast with the online-updater? (YOU)
yes, I am, sorry guys. Too much staying up late, I guess... There are different ways to go, one of them the update/patches (online update), which only works on properly mirrored sites, ftp.sunet.se f.i. doesn't work, ftp.suse.com works. It should only pick patches for things already installed in your system. Two other ways: - Installation Source: stalls when I type any of the ftp addresses (time out (ftp.suse.com) or Errno something "couldn't mount...") - Install Software: > asks for CD1 > Skip, choose Network + enter ftp address/path (time out (ftp.suse.com) or Errno something "couldn't mount...") I tried different paths to some packages, stepping all the way down the tree, no use... I think it needs browsing capabilities, there. Trees can be pretty complex, and it shouldn't stick to one standard source tree structure. What I didn't try, is entering the CD and try to change path from there. Perhaps it (thinks it) needs to read a package db? Should work differently for an installed system. Not a solution, but maybe a clue? Yast1, then, for the time being. BR, Gudmund
