HI I know, but how can I get the source to install to /usr/src/linux-2.4.0-4GB and not /usr/src/linux-2.4.0.SuSE? By installing the source in the normal way I have to set up the whole kernel from scratch. On Monday 02 April 2001 03:41, Avi Schwartz wrote:
I believe that the 4GB kernel source is the same as the 2.4.0.SuSE. The only difference is that when you select the maximum RAM support option you select 4GB memory support.

When I installed SuSE 7.1 on my IBM Thinkpad, I chose kernel 2.4 in the installation process. After the installation was done a uname -r shows 2.4.0-4GB.
I want to recompile the kernel but when I install the source (linux or lx_sus22) I get kernel 2.2.18. When installing the package lx_sus24 I get the source for 2.4.0.SuSE but no 2.4.0-4GB????
My question is, where or how do I get the source for the installed 2.4.0-4GB kernel??? Any help would be appreciated.

PS. On a smaller machine with only 32MB RAM it installed the 2.4.0 kernel without any -4GB.... Could this be because the laptop has 160MB RAM?
