OK dude here's your answer to the cable internet
connection question.

I have a connection with AT&T and I believe the
different providers work much the same way.

Here's a link to SuSE's solution. This is what worked
for me but I will explain it some more...

http://sdb.suse.de/sdb/en/html/leah_all_dhcp_with_at_home.html

First you need to set up your network card but Do Not
activate it. Do this through yast1. This should be
fairly easy.

Now find out what your "computer name" should be.
This is the name the cable access provider has you
enter in the computer name field in network
properities of windows. Find out what this name is
and then try the following line:

dhcpcd -h c113@blah eth0

where cll3 is your computer name
blah is the workgroup
and eth0 is your network card.

Then test your connection by issuing a ping command to
some server like this...

ping www.suse.com

if you get results your good to go.

Check out that link above fore more info. Basically
what you're doing is sending the dhcp server the
correct name and workgroup. Otherwise it will send it
your real computer name, the name you gave it when you
installed linux. This won't work, you have to force
the name in the dhcp command above.

Write back if you have any more trouble.
