kde2.1 problem

Having seen the discussins r.e. kde2.1, I downloaded the rpms from the SuSE
site and did rpm -U on my SuSE system. It almost works, except if I shrink an
application window I can't get it to return to normal size. Clicking on the
icon in the panel has no effect. Also, right clicking on the icon in the panel
and choosing close has no effect. It's possible to start another copy of a
program, but multipe copies then appear in the panel. The instructions for
upgrading KDE are a little vague, but I though I did the rpm's in the right
order. Any hints greatly appreciated!
