How to install the new pre-built kernel?

Ok, so this *should* be a newbie question, but I don't know the answer! How
do I install the pre-built 2.4.2 kernel? Should I simply rpm -i
k_deflt_24-2.4.2-4.i386.rpm? (this didn't work for me.) I normaly run Yast
to select a different pre-buillt, but that only seems to work for the
original distribution, and does not allow me to access the updated kernels.
I'll be more than happy to read the documentation, if someone could point me
to the documentation.
