Yes

My partions are as follows

/dev/hda1 ---> MSDOS
/dev/hda2 ---> linux swap
/dev/hda3 ---> /boot
/dev/hda4 ---> /

I have tried making either /dev/hda3 and /dev/hda4 active. The bios does not
see the hard disk having a valid boot sector.
