I fixed my problem where the monitor goes into powersave mode and I have to do a hard reset every time I log out of KDE to console mode. This behavior only appeared after I upgraded to the Nvidia build 96 drivers. My fix was simple........I re-installed 7.1. "When all else fails, get a bigger hammer.......". This time I WILL NOT use the upgraded Nvidia rpms. Anyway, now a new problem. On several occasions, when I logged out of KDE to the console mode, everything on the console screen is gibberish. I can type commands and they will work, but all I see are weird symbols etc. on the screen. I think I may have found something which is related to this problem. It may be that this only happens after I have used the command /usr/X11R6/bin/switch2nv_glx while in KDE (the command switches you from using the Mesa openGL drivers to the nvidia glx drivers). I am not sure of this relationship, but I did note that after rebooting, if I just "startx" and open KDE, then log right back out again (without using the above command) my console looks normal. I will try to test this some more tonight, but has anyone else seen such behavior? And if so, is there some kind of a fix for it?
