In the sound support section of menuconfig I have the OSS driver selected, and have selected "SB's and 100% compatibles". Both as modules. Then, since sb.o is the module the thing loads, I have the "options sb" line set in the "module : sb.o" section of /etc/modules.conf with the io, irq, dma, and mpu_io information. No particular difference from the earlier 2.4's or the 2.2's for that matter. Works fine.

I seemed to be having problems with my sound card, a SB16. I have a 2.2.18 kernel for suse 7 that boots up fine and finds the ISA SB16 sound card and loads the driver. I also have a 2.4.2 kernel that I can boot up but it doesn't find the SB16 card and when it goes to the load the driver says that It doen't find the card and says that I must set the irq,dma and I/O address for it. I have the OSS driver selected in both kernels in the 2.2.18 kernel it shows the irq,dma and i/o but in the the 2.4.2 kernel it doesn't show it in the menuconfig. does anyone know if the SB16 oss driver is broken in the 2.4.2 kernel.
