Oh, the years I dedicated to that game. In college, I learned Excel over Winter break by designing an automated character generation sheet. All you entered was a race, gender and class(es). Everything else, including age and age modifiers were determined for you. The spreadsheet even enforced a minimum standard deviation in scores to ensure relative strengths and weaknesses of each character. I've never seen a computer game that was nearly as fun as a live game with other players and a human DM, though. Andrew Gould
