If I'm not mistaken Delphi is actually Pascal in disguise. I know it's not respectable to say this, but I like Pascal. It encourages good programming style, and has some pretty nice features as well. It's probably a lot nicer these days, than back in the 286 days when I was using it.

I don't think Borland is trying to 'disguise' the Pascal language in Kylix.. In fact, as a high level object oriented languge Pascal is a strength. Generating output as native linux is also a plus. Compiling at over 4 million lines per second is why compiling can be done before 'gcc' can be typed. I've been a Borland fan since Turbo Pascal 3.0. In fact, my first consulting work was done using TP3.01a and Database ToolBox, which contained a binary tree engine. Very fast. Klyx will make a very nice contribution to the Linux community. Although I have retired my consulting business and no longer can justify a $2K development tool, I do plan to purchase their $99 version to have on hand and play with.
