Hi ken: Read the help files at : http://sdb.suse.de/sdb/en/html/nvidialong.html If you haven't allready done so. I have a Viper 770D nVIDIA 32 Mb (TNT2) card running under 4.0.1. I also use the following instructions: http://sdb.suse.de/sdb/en/html/wessels_how_to_install_xfree.html I think you must have the nvidia.rpm installed. You definitely need Load "GLX" in your XF86Config file. Please notye the XF86Confing you want to edit is in /etc/X11 and not just /etc. Also when you upgrade to 4.0.2 I think you need to get a SAX2 rpm. On Tuesday 13 February 2001 15:40, you wrote:
Okay, I'm running SuSE 7.0 with a 32MB Diamond Viper V770 (RivaTNT2), and XFree 4.0.2. If I put "Load glx" in the Modules section of /etc/X11/XF86Config, and type "startx", then X pegs my CPU and hangs the system. If I don't load the glx module, X works fine until I try to do anything with GL (xscreensaver, etc), then it hangs the machine. I've used the xf86_glx driver as well as the nv_glx driver, both with the same result. I'm currently using XFree 3.x with the glx driver and everything screams.
I seem to recall someone here (Ben or Lenz?) saying they were using a V770 too. Is there any trick to get the glx stuff working in XFree 4.0.2?
