Slightly OT but possibly useful, in order to learn more about *nix I
have installed Emacs ,cygwin and perl on windows, so you can
see the same thing in both OS! I also have a small text editor call
"Programmers File Editor", it's no longer developed but still
available. This little gem will handle both win and *nix control
characters seamlessly. If emacs is a bit big for editing small files
on windows, pfe is a wonderful replacement for notepad -no file size
limits for instance...
