You are quite right, but it's not the hardware as much as it is the "common model" for video rendering. That is, the differences between 'Bloze and *NIX are GREAT, and porting an application isn't that easy. There are so many work-arounds for anything MickySoft, I at times understand why any producer doesn't want to port to a quality OS like Linux. BAD design and BAD code are the hallmarks of MickySoft, although not exclusive to them, they have epitomized both.
