Well I've problem with MIDI, so I think thaht, as I am a newbie, I could
have not well installed my soundcard (Ensoniq SBPCI 1371). I've been
told that alsa was the simpliest way to install a PCI soundcard, so I
tried (I just say 'tried') to install it with alsa.
Firstly, with YaST2: Everything is ok, it detects my soundcard (Ensoniq
Creative Sound Blaster AudioPCI 128), but then it says "the kernel
module snd-card-ens1371 for sound support can't be loaded".
So, no sound...
Secondly, with alsaconf: Everything i ok, it detects mu soundcard...,
seems to install it and...
Starting sound driver: snd-card-ens1371 alsactl: The sound card 'card1'
was not found...
alsactl: The sound card 'card1' was not found...
/lib/modules/2.2.16/misc/snd-card-ens1371.o: init_module: Device orn
resource busy
Hint: this error can be caused by incorrect parameters, including IO or
IRQ parameters.
/lib/modules/2.2.16/misc/snd-card-ens1371.o: insmod
/lib/modules/2.2.16/snd-card-ens1371.o failed
/lib/modules/2.2.16/misc/snd-card-ens1371.o: insmod snd-card-ens1371
failed.
Now I have the same message when I boot, concluded by a wonderful 'done'
(it looks like Microsoft...) and no sound.
When I installed my soundcard with OSS (before alsa), I had sound, but
no MIDI, and I had to type 'modprobe es1371' after each boot to make my
soundcad work. So I think a soundcard half working is better than a
soundcard not working, and I will uninstall alsa, but I will need to
have MIDI very soon, because I use a software in my job which uses MIDI
(the developers of this soft themselves adviced me a SB PCI 128, so it
does'nt come from the soundcard...).
So I probably misunderstand something in the docs (because O know people
having MIDI with the same soundcard and SuSE), anyone can help me?
Thanks,
Romain
