is ident working? i just found out yesterday that even qmail sends
ident requests to clients. so i could very well imagine that the two
unix services ssh and cvs above use ident as well while samba (aick!),
interbase, and borland don't.
use nmap or telnet to check the status of tcp port 113 on all involved
boxes.
