I just installed 4.02. how does one start it up? Typing "startx" seems to bring up 3.3.6. The readme from SuSE tells one on how to install it but that is it.
All this effort to try and get my ati all-in-wounder 128 pro card to work.
I tried "XFree86" which seemed to load 4.02 but all i get is blank screen. do i have to type something else to get all the other stuff to show on the screen. The screen refreshing seems off. the screen is fuzzy.
I seem to remember trying to sort this on a friend's box, but I can't remember exactly. If I remember correctly, the 'XFree86' command was similar to the 'xinit' command under 3.3.6, and took basically the same syntax (???). Try editing your startx script, and replace the 'xinit' at the end with 'XFree86'.
You should be able to at least get an xterm by doing 'XFree86 xterm' or something similar.
Hope that helps a bit, Chris
Doesn't SaX2 supposed to set things correctly for using XFree 4.x?
Regards...
