The problem with the rpm php4 is it has everything complied in mysql - imap. So you will need to also install all kinds of packages that you will never use. I suggest a compile to get just what you need.

I give up... I can't get php4 to install. I've tried the SuSE rpm but it kicks back a list of failed dependencies (even when using --force). I read a message here on the list about installing the SuSE RPM then compiling the source and copying the .so files but I don't see any .so files after I compile. What am I doing wrong?

Hi Spunk,
there are some problems, I think with suse rpm's. I just installed it, and here is what I did: get following rpm's mod_php4 -4.0b4pl1-24.rpm apache-1.3.12-130.rpm ucdsnmp.rpm They are on suse ftp site, under following names: mod_php4.rpm and apache.rmp, so check package description with yast or rpm manager. nmp package causes some problems. Check whether you have /usr/lib/libsnmp.so This library causes some errors when installing mod_php4 resulting in apache error. Uninstall it with rpm -e snmp, then use yast and install above packages. This worked for me. Anyway, good luck. Peter
