Don, check out NUTS (Network UPS Tool) at www.insecure.org. There is a
lot of good info on UPS's w/ Linux there, and some cable schematics.
AFAIK, the only 'problem child' is APC, w/ their funky cables that look
like a serial cable, but have a couple wires swapped.
