Ok.
Just a theory here but...if you are logging into your win2k box as the
user ancalagon and there is also an ancalagon user on your Linux box
then somehow your win2k is not logging into the "microsoft network" as
the user ancalagon - which in reality is your Linux box.
The folder and share (as you've stated) is publicly browseable, however
you have to be logged into the server to write to it.
I'm win2k illiterate, but I believe this is the problem.
