Subject: Re: [SLE] vmware questions
I installed VMWare on my SuSE 7.0 system. The install seemed to go fine. When
I start vmware the window comes up where you have the start button to start a
VMWare session. When I press it the screen goes blank then I am back at KDM
and have to login again. I am running XFree 4.0.1. I don't see how I can
install VMWare tools if my VMWare experience lasts about 500 ms.

<p>2. I have VMWare 2.0.2 installed with Xfree 4.0.1 and have had no
problems.
VMware is adamant about the installation of VMWare Tools in the guest window
to
best "talk" to the X Server. But once this is done, I had no problems. All
this assumes that XFree 4 is working properly, with no glitches on the host
system.
3. Another tip would be to set VIEW in the VMware virtual window to
AUTOFIT
before starting; it seemed to work better if it could determine its own
window
size.
1. VMWare should not affect the host system at all. If the host system
works
properly, so should VM.
For ease of install, use the configuration wizard, decide if you will load the
guest system via floppy or CD or both. Make sure that they both will load
properly before Power On, i.e. don't have a cd loaded and mounted in the host.
Loaded is OK, but not mounted. If it is, the CD will not be available to VM.
Good Luck.
