It says it's playing but no sound and no increment of the progression indicators. Any one else seen this. I've got 3 machines all doing the same thing after these 2 upgrades. Under kde1 and kde2 xmms still plays them. kmp3 is the only one that won't?????
Is kmp3 resetting the volume or device settings?
It doesn't look like it. Although it looks like kmp3 fires up /dev/mixer and /dev/dsp (using lsof | grep /dev/) but kaiman only fires up /dev/dsp and /dev/null. I remember now when I installed kde2 that souund didn't work in kde2. I was unsing the emu10k1-0.4.SuSE rpm from the SuSE cd's for my sb-live. Loaded from /sbin/init.d/boot.local - modprobe emu10k1. For kde2 I had to stop loading it and ran yast2 to set up the sound. I think it is now using alsa. The package is installed alsa-0.5.8-3. I was using the oss mixer and now when I try it it says it can't get /dev/mixer. So now I have to use kmix. I'm starting to think I have a package conflict.
