Subject: SAX2 bug
Hi,
For the last 2 days I was trying to get Xfree86 4.0.1 to run on my
voodoo3 machine without any luck. SAX2 was no help since would come up
with the screen totally garbled. Today I noticed the -a option to
automatically generate the XF86Config file without a graphical display.
When I started xfree86 I had the same garbled display. When I checked
the generated config file I found that SAX2 selected the wrong HorizSync
and VertRefresh values for my monitor. Luckily
/usr/X11R6/lib/sax/api/data/cdb/Monitors contained the correct settings
for my NEC MultiSync XV17. After editing the XF86Config file manually,
X started working properly.
