Hello, everyone.
I went out and bought myself a copy of SuSE 7 Professional as soon as it hit the shops. I have since installed it on a number of different machines. But Apache is really starting to wind me up.
So far, it is a 50/50 split between Apache working after the install process finishes or not. Some of the machines work beautifully, others, I have to su to even start the httpd service before I get the default web page. I just wish I could find some kind of pattern. I have tried editing the httpd.conf file to change the -FollowSymLinks to +FollowSymLinks. PHP doesn't work, the SuSE help system doesn't work, the HOWTOs won't come up, the list goes on. But on those that work, they work great.

> Thanks,
Stuart.

Stuart I went around and around on this issue a few weeks back. Someone from Suse sent mail requesting a copy on my httpd files. Never heard back from them on the issue. Did you update files on some machines and not on others? I didn't have the problem show up until I decided to update my 7.0 Pro system with new patches from Suse. I did get around the problem by using su to get to root, then run httpd. This will get the help and howto's working again, at least it did for me. As soon as you reboot you'll lose again and have to repeat the command. It ended up bugging me so much I did a fresh install. I lost track of what files I changed trying to correct the problem and to avoid other problems this seemed the best route for me. Believe me it wasn't a happy choice!! John..... John.....
