Now that I think about it , I had the box logged in as root , and had to leave it for a while. when I came back it was locked up and had to do a cold reboot via power switch. Thats when the trouble started. some one had put a bunch of stiff on the desk , and that must have screwed it up. I messed up the printer files ealier in the week. So I ended up doing a completely neww clean isntall. So now it works , including the proinitng. Will play with a2ps.cfgto set up some custome size paper latter. Now I can at leat print out file before screwwing with them. Thanks for the info <p>At 10:24 PM 11/20/2000 -0800, kastus@tsoft.com wrote:

I cant get startx to work any longer as a normal user#- It only works as root now ? I ran sax , yast/then sax and allways the same error , note the fatel server and following two lines ? Any idea how to fix this , or is it totaly hosed and will need a re install / clean instal ?
I experienced the same situation today when I did a clean install of 7.0. Initially I ran sax from console. What fixed my problem, I ran X configuration again, that time from within yast. It brought sax2 up for some reason, but allowed me to select sax from a menu. I just confirmed all previous settings and after that startx began to work from an ordinary user account.
