Subject: Re: [SLE] kde2 /kde1 and kdm

I'm sorry to miss all the discussion but weekends are just for my wife
and my daughter.

I use linux for work in a oglx environment. I mostly run chemistry
programs in a SGI and use my linux box as a terminal or exchange results
using programs which needs oglx running fine. I also need HD space
because I easily get 1 GB files. Kde2 is much better than Kde1 for that
purpose and more stable.

The only problem I can see in the upgrade is starting linux with xdm
which is not too bad (I've been using it since '94 when I installed my
first slackware linux). However, looking at the /opt/kde2/bin directory
there is a kdm binary which you can manage to run at boot manually
modifying the files at /sbin/init.d and others.

The only thing I was stating was a feature you loose when you delete
kde1 using yast1 and even upgrading to kde2 using the SuSE provided
script.

I was also answering a guy (Landy Roman (Thu Nov 16 2000 - 05:17:16
PST)), who ask to the list about the convenience to delete kde1.
