Thank's for your reply Togan, but I know that it is KCC -> Personalization -> and then keyboard- or language layout to configur it. The problem is: icelandic keyboard layout isn't there! Like many other languages that used to be there in KDE 1 it is just plain missing and I need to know how on earth I can configure this, which file I could edit by hand for example if that's the only choice. I've been asking this on some other mailing lists without any answers, guess I have to try the KDE list (it's just such a damn boring list to my taste).

Oh in this case welcome to the club. Since turkish is not in the list I have the same problem. The reason behind is KDE 2.0 is using XKB from the XFree86 and if the XFree86 does not have a keyboard layout for a language than that language is not listed as one of the options under the Keyboard layout in KDE 2.0 The solution I have found is to use xmodmap.tr created by Xkeycaps (series xap) The second alternative I found is using the following in the XF86Config file this does not give me the swith option yet it has the necessary characters for me to type in Turkish. Section "InputDevice" Driver "keyboard" Identifier "Keyboard[0]" Option "Protocol" "Standard" Option "XkbKeyCodes" "xfree86" Option "XkbModel" "pc_universal_euro" <p>The third alternative is using xkbsel program (sorry I do not remember where I found it but try to searh in www.google.com ) Again this option depends on the fact that there is a layout defined in XFree86 hope it helps and if you find an alternative please drop aline
