Subject: HylaFax and fuser command... Helpless :((
Hi,
Here comes a good question :)
I've been using HylaFax for quite a long time. I've even installed it on a
P100 with 1 GB's of HDD and 8 MB's of RAM using SuSE 6.4.
Now I've a spare PII 350 to use, which has already got SuSE 6.4 installed,
with 64 Megs of RAM.
So I took out the modem from the P100 box and put it right to the PII 350
one.
The modem is a BOCA 56K ISA International (I'm in Turkey) and can be used
flawlessly on my PPP connection using wvdial (we connect and stay online for
days).
Then took the regular steps for configuration. I have a print out of SuSE
How-to from www.hylafax.org which is the correct one. (Btw. to remind SuSE,
although I'm a distributor I haven't ordered 7.0 yet so I don't know if it
has been corrected but there seems to be problems on the HylaFax section of
the manual since 6.1 to 6.4)
The configuration script keeps telling me that the fuser command colud not
be found ! But it is in place and working quite well ! When I connect to my
ISP and issue a fuser /dev/ttyS1 command it tells me that the ttyS1 is used
by wvdial correctly.
I missed this warning and got on configuration. It dilas out and sends faxes
smoothly (excpet for some minor problems regarding buggy fax machines) but
when it comes to receiving them the modem just stays online after receiving.
I also tried an external-TI chipset-USR clone-V.34+ (33.600) modem which has
been used correctly by my co-workers on a Windoze box with Symantec
TalkWorks. It also screws up !
I don't want to go back to Symantec because it's too buggy and weak for
broadcasting and mass-faxing.
Has anybody cam-up with the same problem ?
