Subject: Not strictly SuSe but i need help.......
Hi all,
Our portal website is hosted on a Managed dedicated Linux server
with an IP address 64.45.58.39 ( schoolcircle.com ).
We recently went in for a server upgrade and during the transition period
have been allotted 64.77.39.130 ( schoolcircle2.com which is not an Internic
registered domain and is used by Hostpro for their accounting purposes )
The files and the database have been moved to the new server . However there
is a strange problem ....
When I use *any* URL on the new site of the form
http://64.77.39.130/registration , the browsers ( Netscape, IE and Opera )
load the page from the old site ie http://www.schoolcircle.com/registration BUT
when I use http://64.77.39.130/registration/ ( with the trailing slash ) the
correct page from the NEW server is loaded .
Because of this , I am too scared to ask Hostpro to point the DNS of
schoolcircle.com to the NEW IP 64.77.39.130 .............
The Unix admins at hostpro are at their wits end ...Can anyone explain
this strange behaviour ......................? Is it ok for me to ask them to
'flip' the DNS to point to the new server now ?
Waiting anxiously for an answer
Anurag
