You might want to configure the printer with Yast1. First go to the /etc
directory and drag your old printcap away to the trashbin. You will make a
completely new printcap when you run YAST1. Then use YAST1 and under
SystemAdministration -> Integrate Hardware into system -> Configure printers,
select your printer. This may work. Reset the file permissions you
changed back to their original form you first had.

Good Luck,

Jonathan
