What's Missing?
I have just implimented a new installlation of v6.4/KDE2. When I attempt to use SWAT to configure Samba by http://localhost:901/ I get the error message: "cannot connect to host localhost.'
What have I failed to install/configure?
You probably do not have the swat service running. Either start it manually or via inetd.
To start it via inetd, you probably need to add lines similar to the ones below to /etc/inetd.conf: swat stream tcp nowait.400 root /usr/sbin/swat swat /etc/services: swat 901/tcp # XXX Samba Web Administration Tool [And of cause you need to make sure that inetd is running.]
Ohh, just a moment, ... ... IIRC there was a severe packaging bug in early SuSE-6.4 versions. May-be you need to upgrade the swat package - Check out SuSE's ftp site.
Ralf
