Then remove the grapichal login policy from YaST. Use the ASCII login and start X from the command line. With the former xdm/kdm are being run from inetd and are reincarnating everytime they are being shutdown.
You must have me confused with someone else. I am not having any problems logging in or running either KDE or KDE2. And, yes, I prefer the command line. JLK
