Well when my new SCSI drive arrived I went back to SuSE 6.3. With the doubling of the price for 7 and the comments on the newsgroups I was thinking of installing the Corel 2 or Caldera 2.4 that are sitting on my shelf.
Noo :)
But I wnt back to the one I know. I added rp-ppoe and fired it up Dave Skoll did a great job and the connection was simpler than it was from the ISP!
I then went to do a FTP update to patch up the stuff from 6.3. It seems to have downloaded a bunch of stuff then said I had yast 1.03 and couldn't update to 1.05 unless I rebooted with the boot disk.
If I do this, will I have to remount the drives or will yast find things? Does the FTP update bring me upto the level of release 7?
You need to update the so-called "base system" first. This cannot be done in the live system, therefore you are required to boot from the installation floppy (also available on ftp.suse.com and mirrors). YaST will ask you for the root partition of the system to be updated an will take care of the rest.
I haven't received a LUG pack since release 6.3.
You might want to ask info@suse.com what has happened.
