Of course, I did. I started 'make xconfig' and loaded the mentioned config file. I made minor changes e.g. adding the emu10k1 sound driver. The config file belonging to the default kernel seems to work better with 2.4.0 than with it's supposedly closest relative 2.2.17. That's what puzzles me. Are there libraries that I need to install? Could it be that certain packages cause an unrecognized conflict?
