Problem solved! Gallium Font Manager is a libc5 program, so SuSE package shlibs5-2000.1.17-2 is needed to run the program. Now it's so easy when I know it. -Kastus On Mon, 16 Oct 2000, Haralambos Geortgilakis wrote:
Hi All & Kastus,
The reinstall plan did not work, so I want to the Corel site & hung about on the Install list & this is what I found that worked for me....
I added the following line to my "XF86config"
FontPath "tcp/127.0.0.1:7102"
Now WordPerfect's Fonttastic can handle XFree86-4.0.1 & I am a happy geek.... :-)
You may need to tune the port #, to :7101 ?
Good luck & I hope that helps.

Nice to know I am not the only one to suffer. I suspect some of X updates, like xshared-3.3.6-43, have something to do with Fontastic stopping to work. Can anyone from SuSE shed some light on those X updates?

Hi all & Kastus,
who is being vexed by the subject heading....
I use WordPerfect Office 2000 for Linux (wait, wait, I am not saying you should use it.... But I do like it.).
I've just upgraded from XFree86 3.3.6 to 4.0.1, on SuSE 6.4 & that broke my Fontastic server. I am going to try an uninstall & reinstall-tonight. That worked another time, when the font thing broke. I will let you know how I go, after I finish this essay on N.E.S.B's; while working in WordPerfect 8 for Linux.
WordPerfect 8 for Linux, is good thou ;-)

Hi SuSErs,
I've been using Applixware for a long time, since 4.3.7, then 4.4.1, and 4.4.2, and it was quite successful.
I didn't touch it since April, many things changed, I got a new AMD box, SuSE 6.4, among others.
The problem appeared when I tried to add custom fonts to FontTastic, i.e. Applixware font server/manager. When I try to start it (Tools->Font Installer) from Applix menu, nothing happens, besides the message _FontTransSocketINETConnect: Can't connect: errno = 111 which appears on console.
I then uninstalled Applix and tried to run live version from CD. Result is the same. This is really ridiculous, as long as the same CD worked for me in SuSE 6.3. I guess the problem is not in Applix. Something must be definitely wrong in my 6.4 system, but what?
I have all the patches from SuSE for 6.4 installed, the kernel is 2.2.14 SuSE, X11 is 3.3.6
Any clues where to look at?
TIA, -Kastus
