I have a Mac workstation I need to get up running with atalkd with my SuSE 7.0 server. The man page is less than complete here and I'm wondering if there is anyone on the list who is using this service ?
It's a 192.168.XXX.XXX scheme with the sever side NIC connection being eth1=192.168.0.1 and the Mac being 192.168.0.20
I need to store files on the sever if possible. Anyone ?
There are three important files associated to netatalk (all of them in /etc/atalk/): atalkd.conf .- define interfaces. You should not change it with your scheme. It is modified by the daemon when it starts. papd.conf .- define printers. Each line is remote_server:pr=remote_printer: afpd.conf .- define file servers. But I have not modified it. The most important file is the next... AppleVolumes.default .- define volumes to be exported to mac. Each line define a directory to be exported and a name /home/to_export VOLUMEN_NAME. If no name is defined, the basename of the directory is taken as volumen name. This is a simple configuration. If you want to know more you should go to man pages. You can start it with rcatalk or /etc/rc.d/atalk start, but remember to set to yes ATALK variable in /etc/rc.config file. Regards, Carlos
