I am trying to set up a small gateway/firewall on an old 486 with a small HD on it. So i tried to use the "minimal" instalation from 6.4. Can anyone explain why X and KDE has to be installed??? It gets WAY over the 120 mb hd i have.. I tried the DMZ version too, same problem... And removing packages prior to setup makes all kinds of dependencies fail...
Why cant SuSE make a minimalistic setup and keep it minimal????
I had (have) SuSE installed on a 120M hard disk, and the installation takes up around 80M (this is with SuSE 6.1). I've also got a similar setup with SuSE 7.0, taking up 145M, however this is with lots of extras, including: DNS server sendmail pop3/imap server multiple dialup/ppp packages DHCP server print server, etc. fetchmail procmail etc. If you tell me what you need, I could probably send you a configuration that'll fit on your disk. You will have to watch your logfiles though...
