Alex,
I had the same problem. I got a hint from "http://linux.nf/stepbystep.htm.
Choose on the left "Power Management", then Monitors.
The information is for XF 3.3.x, but it can be adapted to XF 4.0.1.
In the file /etc/X11/XF86Config, the section names are different,
rearranged and have different "Options".
Under Section "Monitor", add the following line:
Option "DPMS".
Under Section "ServerLayout", check for the following:
1) Does the line Screen "Screen[0]" line refer to an Identifier
"Screen[0]" under Section "Screen" which also shows Monitor "Monitor[0]"?
Mine are all [0] because I only have 1 Card, 1 Monitor and 1 Screen
definition.
2) Assuming that the monitor with the "DPMS" option enabled is referred
to in Section "Screen" which is later referred to in Section
"ServerLayout", you may add Options to Section "ServerLayout" that will
apply to all such monitors in the following format:
Option "BlankTime" "15" # in minutes
Option "StandbyTime" "30"
Option "SuspendTime" "45"
Option "OffTime" "60".
Of course, you can use all 4 or only 1; I use only BlankTime and OffTime.
It works for me, I hope it works for you.
