Hey list

Whadd'a'ya all ranting about ?

SuSE have a tradition for releasing a .0 version wich is "next-kernel-
ready".

SuSE 6.0 included 2.0.36 as default, and was 2.2 ready. SuSE 6.1 was the
first
SuSE distro that included the 2.2.x kernel ( 2.2.5 to ba accurate :-)

SuSE 7.1 will then VERY probably be out when 2.4.x has stabilized.

Stop the rants, and appreciate that there really is someone out there that
does all the work for you and saves you a hulluva lot of time. ( It's
extremely
rare that I HAVE to browse the internet for programs, last exeption being
Asterisk-PBX.
SuSE just have soooo much to offer.

PS: nope, don't work for them, nope.. don't get free packages either.....
:-)

Paul,

I guess I'm a bit too old-fashioned to care about this rpm crap.

If I ever decide to upgrade to 7.0 without wiping out the partition,
I'd simply rm -rf /opt/kde*. Yast does rpm --force anyway... After
that it's simply a matter of merging $HOME/.kde with $HOME/.kde2

But I don't plan to upgrade to 7.x until it includes 2.4.x kernel!
;^)

By the way, if any SuSE marketing people are reading this, here's my
little rant. I paid for 6.4, but never registered, 'cos I'm on a
crusade against direct marketing. Releasing a 7.0 before 2.4.0
kernel is a bit misleading, isn't it. What are you going to do in a
couple of months - release SuSE 8.0?
