I'm afraid there is 'something weird', as I remember I had some a similar result initially. It's seems to mess up its paths easily, and then I similarly 'lost' the view of things I'd added (the initial thumbnail of her was too big so I changed it to a smaller one and it refused to show it - sound familar?). And I can't remember how I fixed it, as it was a few
Oh yes. I deleted my "brauki.xpm" files in /opt/_very_complicated_path/users and voila they reappeared. Same when I deleted brauki.xpm a level deeper.
months ago. :-( However, that only happened once and I had it working fine after a few minutes. Unfortunately her machine is hundreds of miles away, and I'm at work, so I can't check it and on my own machine I prefer not to have any pictures of the one user (I'm an ugly brute, as I'm sure you can imagine!). But you should persist - it's *definitely* possible, it's very a cute feature for a low number of users, and worked fine on my mum's machine without too much hassle. k.
I know youre right (and that's got nothing to do with the ugly and brute ;-)), since I could place kcalc.xpm as brauki.xpm and it worked. kcalc.xpm seemed to be a bit gigger than 64x64. I leave it rest and hope I'll hear something when I'm back from the UK. Hope this makes it - just tried to unsubscribe Juergen

login part, you can select which users appear on the login screen, the image to attach to that user, the background, font, etc etc. I set my mum up with a little photo of herself - she was so chuffed the first time she saw the login screen appear! Kdm is really rather nice. k.
Hi Kester,
How does it work in the end?? I tried it the hard way by copying the logo of kcalc to /opt/kde/share/apps/kdm/pics/users/brauki.xpm. And voila - instead of the original picture I saw the kcalc logo. Next I tried a picture of me as xpm and copied it to the location. Of course it did *not* work. I tried your suggestion. There seem to be a bunch of directorys with xpm's. They do not show anything the above mentioned path, but there are pics in there. It seems even worse: If I change the contence of a directory by copying further files into, the pics disappear for the entire directory from the selection menue. ;-( There is something weird.

PS: better answer direct to this thread, I'll sign off the list tonight for a week.
