Hi dids, No, in fact it isn't so different, the clue was to have an XF86Config file at the starting, with a vga or fbdev driver and replacing that driver by nvidia. I'm not giving up. I hope SuSE is getting ready for this and I hope they read us because new mobo are comming, dual with Via chipsets and memory being bursted easily to 400Mhz. Filip. and you are sposed to be the expert - d'oh!
well all i did different to your setup ( bearing in mind its an mx card )
I think i ran xf86cfg or is it xf86config to get the boring typed list of questions. Didnt choose a graphics card server and supplied my own monitor frequencies.
Then i edited the XF86Config file to just the one driver and changed it from vga to nvidia.
then to see a working screen i type XFree86
and to get working i type xinit -- /usr/X11R6/bin/XFree86
and use export WINDOWMANAGER= "your windowmanager here " then startx to get up and going
sax2, sax, XFree86 -configure, none of them recognise my card.
im just downloading ssytem to see my fps.
but surely i learnt what to do from you ? so is it different dids

Hi,
Anyone got an mobo AX63 PRO from AOpen with a VIA Apollo Pro133 AGPset chipset and a Geforce 2 GTS 32Mb running?
If yes please, "as the Beatle song sings", please heeeeelllllllppppp meeeeeee. ( in fact my son 16 years old willing to linux linux-suse ).
I'll start with the results I have : nvidia driver OK module NVdriver loads fine module agpgart loads fine ( seems not necessary with the NVdriver as I get the same result without this module). XF86Config ----> nvidia Ok; load "glx" OK;
If I run startx, it crashes (squashed green lines +/-1/4 of screenhorizantally) If I do sax2, crash but gives 4 same vertical screen sections where I can see some final statements of sax2 NB : the two ifs above requiers hard reset, machine screws up.
So finally the only thing making it work is putting in the screen section the option "NvAGP" "0" which I suppose disables AGP.
I tried everything in tomshardware , any option ( Nvreg_Via etc....) settings in my module.conf
So If anyone has this card running on that same mobo without NvAGP=0 be so kind to help me and send over your etc/X11/XF and etc/module.conf
Installation :
SuSE 7 standard installation kernel 2.2.16 X11 not beeing configured during the installation Upgrade to XFree4.0.1 ( rpm -- force - Uhv *.rpm; ldconfig) as per README rpm -force - Uhv nv_glx.rpm nvdriver.rpm; depmod -a as per README
sax2 -m 0=fbdev to have an initial XF86 file editing XF86Config and putting "nvidia" that's all ( except the NvAGP option in the screen section).
running ssystem -bench on his system gives 8.5 fps????
Thanks for any help. Filip
