hi i know this is very provoking, but i'm *extremely* frustrated. I'm from Bangalore, India, and *nobody* here is interested in suse. i've been calling up my friends for a suse 7.0 or 6.4 but none of them have it. redhat has released its 7.0 version and some of my acquintances have already downloaded 3 cd images of it. but nobody wants to do any thing with suse. what's wrong ? here, linux is synonymous with redhat ! For instance, a very popular computer magazine has been giving _every_ (well, almost .. they missed 6.0) version of redhat and they dont want to hear of suse. its rival gave suse 6.3 eval version, way back in april (it wasnt properly suppported later.they gave it because they had to ). Why isnt suse active in India ? on the national and regional lists , most of the questions are about the redhat linux released by that mag. in fact, my friends have offered me the redhat 7 cd's ( 3 of them) in exchange for only 3 blank CD's. having said that, i wont buy any cd, only get it written. but where is suse in the picture. it is certainly more secure than redhat, it support is very good, and most of the exploits on bugtraq wont work on this, and certainly its mailing lists ( i mean this list ) is a lot better. but suse doesnt even bother ! the only suse version i'm having is 6.3 and it is getting a lot old. i know i'm telling with a lot of selfishness( see my sig ), but i when i want a cd , i dont get it . Is suse participating in the Bangalore IT.COM ? i really hope it does. u cant get a better opportunity than that in India. u'll probably wish to flame me, but it's been a long frustrating wait, and i'm really tired at the end of it, but i hope , really hope, i haven't stepped on a few toes ;-) regards cheedu ps: well, i guess the bottomline is : i need 7.0 cd(s) ! -- Optimist ? No... Pessimist ? No... Opportunist ? *Yes* !! :D Sridhar omicron@cheedu.dyndns.org --------------------------------------------------- -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq
