In what case I guess you burned the *imagefile* as a file to the CD.
I was joking when I wrote about <shrudder> GUI's, but I guess the shell
would have saved you a CDR.
cdrecord -v dev=your_device speed=your_speed imagefile

yes. that works only foe a filesystem in a file.
