I installed the KDE 1.94 rpms for SuSE 6.4 and was trying to follow the instructions for "Running KDE 1.1.x and KDE 2.0 on the same machine", which I got from the www.kde.org http://www.kde.org site. When I get to the part "editing Xsession to launch kde2" it gets a little confusing. For SuSE it says: - - - - - - - - On SuSE, Xsession is located under /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xdm/. Look for this in the file: XSESSION_IS_UP=yes export XSESSION_IS_UP And right after it, add this: if test "$WINDOWMANAGER" = "kde2"; then source /opt/kdes/bin/kde2 exec startkde exit 1 fi - - - - - - - - - The problem is, I cannot find "XSESSION_IS_UP=yes" and "export XSESSION_IS_UP" in any Xsession file. The only place I found any reference to XSESSION_IS_UP was in an if statement in the .xinitrc file (I'm pretty sure it was in this file). And in this it was part of an "if" statement, not in the form as indicated above. Does anyone know what to do here? I don't use the graphical login and basically, I'd like to be able to start KDE2 from the command line with "startx kde2" or something similar (letting just plain "startx" still start kde 1.1.2). I'm sure someone has done something similar to this by now and I would appreciate any info! Thanks!
