Hi Folks Just installed SuSE 7.0......nice one :-) Anyway....I have a couple of problems, and would appreciate some advice. 1) I made a fresh installation instead of an upgrade from 6.4. My system uses a Mach 64 server so Yast2 installed XFree 3.3.6 rather than 4.0...which disappointed me slightly. However for the first time I was able to select a high resolution rather than the 800 x 600 I have had to use up to now. Once the system was up and running...I decided to lower the resolution slightly. This time however the best I can manage is the afore said 800 x 600. X fails if I try to achieve anything higher. Any comments as to why this should be? 2) I use an ISP which has two telephone numbers....one for free off peak use, and one for normal daytime use. I set up wvdial for the former, and usually set up kppp for the latter. Never had any problems before. This time however kinternet and wvdial work perfectly. kppp however only works if I am logged in as root. Checking the logs revealed a modem hang up with no other information. The pppd daemon immediately fails as soon as a connection is made. Suggestions as to how to get this to work would be appreciated.
