Which kernel are you running? I've got 2.2.13 on SuSE 6.3.

If you are using the drives with a ATA33 controller, the drives will work fine in ATA33 mode. Some drives have ATA66 turned off to have greater compatibility with ATA33 controllers, and you may need to use a special utility to turn ATA66 on if you are using a ATA66 controller. If you are using an ATA66 controller, there are kernel options that will enabled the ATA66 features. You will need to compile and install the kernel.
I have SuSE 6.3 and been using ATA66 drives with both ATA33 and ATA66 controllers. No problems.

Can UDMA 66 hard drives be used with SuSE 6.3, and if so how is it done?
