I use Partition Magic for all my partition maintenance, such as resizing. I am not aware of any problems WRT LILO. There is an inconsistency between Partition Magic and the Linux fdisk. If you use the Linux fdisk to delete a partition then add a new partition in its place, fdisk will effectively add that as a new partition number. Eg. delete partition 6. /dev/hda6, then add a new partition in its place, fdisk will set that up at the end of the partition table making that something like /dev/hda9. This will also make the partition table unreadable to Partition Magic. "Paul W. Abrahams" wrote:
I've just gotten (but not yet tried out) Partition Magic 5.0. I seem to remember reading here that there are some incompatibilities between lilo's conventions for the partition table and PM's conventions. Are there any traps I should be looking for?
