I am running a small home network: a SuSe server with isdn access, with 3 other boxes masquerading behind it, two windows 98 and another linux box. My computer has a cdburner, and it sometimes happens that the cdrecord buffers empties (and a CDR is lost) because someone launches an internet connection, or as happened today, transfers a large mp3 file from the server to another box.
Obviously, the network should be switched off before I start burning: what is a simple and efficient way of doing that, and of switching it back on again after burning the CD?
I would appreciate your suggestions.
Something like: ifconfig eth0 down then ifconfig eth0 up route add default gw a.b.c.d Put the above into two scripts.
