I don't know how I managed it, but several days after installing 4.0.1 i had recourse to switch to Console 1, I duly pressed CTL, ALT F1 and a blank screen - strange I thought, CTL ALT F7 back again ... no way - ended up with the big switch... I cannot see what I have done wrong, the only thing I was thinking about was SuSEconfig, ran that and now it works alright.. I know that init is checked in config and I suppose that as I didn't use Sax2 or whatever for my x install that it didn't update properly.... might be one to check if your doing this... One more thing, in my etc/inittab, it has 1:123:respawn:/sbin/mingetty --noclear tty1 2:123:respawn:/sbin/mingetty tty2 3:123:respawn:/sbin/mingetty tty3 4:123:respawn:/sbin/mingetty tty4 5:123:respawn:/sbin/mingetty tty5 6:123:respawn:/sbin/mingetty tty6 what does the --noclear bit do ? I tried man inittab but it failed to shed any light on the affair. regards Pete -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq
